The Farm

A living farm shaped by people, plants, and time.

A diverse agroforestry system

The farm is designed as an agroforestry system, where different crops grow together and support each other. Shade trees protect sensitive plants, improve soil health, and create a resilient growing environment.

Main crops include:

By combining crops with different heights, root systems, and functions, the farm stays productive while reducing stress on soil and plants.

Heyner & Jenny

La Munequita is a family-run farm, created and cared for by Heyner and Jenny.
Heyner lovingly calls Jenny “La Munequita”, and that is where the farm’s name comes from.

Together, they built this place as a living farm, where food production goes hand in hand with respect for nature, people, and the land. What started as a small family project has grown into a diverse agroforestry system shaped by daily care and long-term thinking.

Animals as part of the system

Goats and chickens are an essential part of the farm’s daily life. The goats are cared for by Heyner’s nephew, Miguel, who plays an important role in maintaining the land.

The goats help manage pastures naturally and provide manure that is returned to the soil. Chickens contribute to pest control, nutrient cycling, and daily farm rhythms.

Animals are not separate from the farm, they are part of the system.

Built together with many hands

Over the years, La Munequita has been shaped not only by family, but also by many volunteers from around the world.

They helped plant trees, maintain the farm, build structures, care for animals, and share everyday life on the land. Each person left something behind: knowledge, energy, laughter, and stories.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time and care. This farm carries all those hands and moments within it.
